White Texas Sheetcake

  • 1 cup of butter or margarine
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda

In a large saucepan, bring butter and water to boil. Remove from heat, stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, almond extract, salt, baking soda until smooth. Pour into greased 15 1/2 x 10 x 1 jelly roll pan. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cool for 20 minutes.

While cake is cooling make frosting:

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract

In saucepan, combine margarine and milk and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Spread over warm cake.
